EMERGENCY COOLING CENTERS

The Village of Oak Park and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, along with the Oak Park Public Library, in collaboration with Housing Forward and the Oak Park Homelessness Coalition, have developed an emergency cooling center plan. This plan includes an emergency cooling center at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

As temperatures rise, remember to drink plenty of water and stay as cool as possible. If you don’t have access to air conditioning, cooling centers are open throughout Oak Park and Cook County to help you stay safe.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 611 Randolph St., will serve as an emergency cooling center from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, and Thursday, July 24. The cooling center is typically activated when outdoor temperatures reach 95°F, with a heat index of 103°F or higher for more than four hours.

Thanks to the Village of Oak Park, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Oak Park Public Library, and Housing Forward for partnering with the Oak Park Homelessness Coalition.
